DBU German Environmental Scholarship 2025
Internship Opportunity in Germany – for Graduating MSc Students, PhD Candidates, and Young Professionals
Dear (final-year) students,
We would like to draw your attention to an excellent environmental scholarship opportunity in Germany. The German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt – DBU) offers 6–12 month professional internships in Germany related to environmental protection, conservation, and heritage preservation, open to candidates from any academic discipline.
Key Information:

Final-year MSc students, PhD students, and young professionals (within 5 years of graduation or second degree) - Internship duration:
6–12 months - Scholarship amount:
€1,350/month - Application deadlines (from Hungary):
- Spring 2025: March 5, 2025 → Internship starts in September 2025
- Autumn 2025: September 5, 2025 → Internship starts in March 2026
- Language of application:
German or English (submitted online)
The scholarship includes:
- Support in finding a host institution in Germany (research institutes, universities, government agencies, NGOs, or companies)
- 3-week intensive German language course in Germany
- Health, accident, and liability insurance
- Monthly allowance of €1,350 to cover living, travel, and professional development expenses
- Networking and further opportunities through the DBU alumni network
Past scholarship holders have completed internships at:
- Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (Leipzig)
- Technical University of Berlin
- German Environment Agency
- Bavarian Forest National Park

The Foundation for the University of Sopron awards scholarships based on applications with the aim of supporting students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and commit to continuing their studies at the University of Sopron after completing a higher education vocational program. This can include enrolling in a bachelor’s program, engaging in scientific research in an undivided or single-cycle program, or pursuing a master's degree at the University of Sopron.
